The eportfolio This is an evaluation of the final version of my
eportfolio. Outcomes I created the eportfolio
in Word and checked it thoroughly using the following criteria: ·
The whole portfolio
has a consistent appearance ·
The navigation
buttons are in the same place on each page ·
The layout is
logical and easy to follow ·
All the links
work correctly ·
Every page
loads up quickly ·
Most pages are
short enough not to require excessive scrolling ·
Spelling and
grammar is correct I referred to my plan
while building the portfolio to ensure that all components were included. Suggestions for improvement It might have been better
to have a separate link in the navigation bar for Evidence of development.
The Evidence page could be bookmarked for each item. Each page could have a
‘Back’ button taking the user back to the page previously
visited. However, the user could use the existing button on the Internet
Explorer toolbar. The links to Review and
Supporting Evidence on each page could go to the bookmarked entry on the
Review page instead of to the top of the page each time. Process I underestimated the time
it would take to do the questionnaire, analysis and presentations and I had
to adjust my schedule. I also forgot to write down where I downloaded some of
the images from and it took a long time to find them again. I obtained feedback on all
elements of my eportfolio and responded by making changes where I agreed with
the comments. Peer review I showed the eportfolio in class and had the
following comments: “It looks good and
it’s easy to navigate. Your links work and the pages load up quickly.” “The headings in the
navigation bar don’t match the heading on the page you get to when you
click. I think that’s confusing.” Action: I thought that was a good point so I
changed the navigation bar and headings to match. Plan It was useful to have a
plan but I found the questionnaire and analysis took much longer than I
expected and I was not able to finish it. I spent much more than 30 hours on
the whole project. Setting up the File
Structure The file structure worked reasonably well but at first I did not really understand what was going to go in the eportfolio folder. I later put all my pdfs and executable files into subfolders of the eportfolio folder. The index.htm file had to be moved outside this folder before the site was uploaded. |
